Hardware

Hardware configuration controls platform forwarding resources and hardware behavior on NX-OS devices. It covers TCAM region carving for ACL, QoS and other forwarding tables, user-defined TCAM resource templates, user-defined fields (UDFs) used as TCAM qualifiers, hardware profile options such as uRPF and multicast RPF check optimization, global hardware QoS settings (hardware qos) for ingress priority-group buffers, lossless no-drop thresholds, AFD and ETRAP, and extended hardware settings for counters, atomic ACL updates, PBR and multicast. It also includes the system forwarding (routing) template, switch and fabric modes, ECMP hash tuning, IPv4 load sharing, and hardware rate-limiters for supervisor-bound traffic (hardware rate-limiter). CoPP profiles and policies are documented in Control Plane Policing.

Changing TCAM regions, the forwarding template, or the switch and fabric modes typically requires a reload of the device to take effect.
